1) find a friend or family member to co-sign a legitimate car loan for you.

2) Buy a $1000 car. Assuming that the appearance of your vehicle is not vital for your work, you should be able to find some rusted or dented thing about 10 years ancient, which was pretty plain in the first place and runs fine.

If you had insurance on the car, take the settlement and simply replace the car. Do a substitution of collateral.

There are no REPUTABLE places you can go for such a loan. Your only real option is a buy-here-finance-here dealer.

And if your credit is terrible enough that you can’t get a car loan through the bank where you do business, you don’t need to be financing an $8000 car. You’ll just be digging the hole deeper.

Get your mom paid off for the totaled car, then save up for a replacement. Take the bus until then. And don’t be asking them to co-sign another loan.

Whatever you do, don’t listen to the advice above about payday loans!! They will not loan you enough money for a car, and their interest rates are horrendous!

You’ll want to check these guys out….. they have better interest rates than banks do.

You CAN get a decent car loan, even with terrible credit. I’ve done it, but you’ll have to look around. That’s one of the HUGE mistakes people make…just taking the first offer that’s given to them when they go to the dealer. Be smarter than that.

WARNING: DON’T GO TO BUY A CAR WITHOUT HAVING THE LOAN FIRST. The auto dealers will eat you alive and give you a crappy rate. Shop around with lenders who specialize in terrible credit car loans. It’s a better option, you don’t have to take what they’re offering if you don’t want it, and it’s better than dealing with the car dealer’s people.
